Megumi and Michael – wedding in Tokyo, Japan by Riviera Wedding Photography
If you had asked me a year ago which countries I would like to visit the most, the answer would be Japan, Australia and India. Can’t believe those three have happened to me so quickly, and two of them thanks to my absolutely amazing, the best in the world – photographer’s job.
Words cannot express how much I love my work and my clients. In the previous post I have mentioned that I’ve met Megumi and Michael during their pre-wedding photo shoot in Monte Carlo. They both liked my work, so they’ve asked me to photograph their wedding in Tokyo
a couple of months later. The answer was “yes”!
Shortly after my arrival I’ve learnt about a probability of a typhoon happening on the wedding day. Luckily it has changed it’s path! The only thing that I’ve witnessed was an earthquake of a medium magnitude. I’m sure that Tokyo citizens haven’t even noticed it!
The couple has stayed at five stars Hotel Okura Tokyo.
Classic Japanese to its elegant core, this fabled Hotel Okura Tokyo was designed by Yoshiro Taniguchi, who also created Tokyo’s National Museum of Modern Art and the Crown Prince’s Palace. Opened in 1962, the property celebrates traditional design and culture, as seen in such touches as the tranquil gardens, elegant tea ceremony room with kimono-clad hostesses and stunning ikebana (floral arrangement).
Destination-specific details continue in the Zen-inspired rooms, which have vibrant fabrics and shoji screen–like windows. Hotel Okura Tokyo is located in a low-rise building next to the American consulate in the embassy district, making it the perennial choice for visiting dignitaries.
Megumi’s preparations took place at the hotel’s beauty salon and were followed by a ceremony at the hotel’s chapel. Hotel Okura is very big and offers the majority of services to wedding couples. Once the wedding dinner was over, the Halloween Party has started, the costumes were amazing. Michael was dressed as Freddie Mercury and sung “I was born to love you“. They surely know how to have fun!
Two days later, we took the photos of the couple as we wouldn’t have time to do it on the wedding day. Michael has chosen some great places for our photo shoot such as Capitol Hotel Tokyu where The Beatles stayed in 1966, The Saint Mary Cathedral designed by Kenzo Tange and Ueno Park.
I’m very grateful to the couple for all the facilities they have provided – plane trip, stay at the luxury Hotel Okura and even some sight visiting including beautiful Kamakura temple. Thanks to you my wish came true, I have been to Japan and will surely come back.
I was really glad to be a part of your special day. May the years to come bring loads of joy and fill your lives with unbounded love. ♥
Writing Ema wishes in front of the shrine.
Lovely photography!
